The whiff of the afternoon breeze brought back memories of bygone days and distant places. Have you ever had that experience? The wind swept me away to a distant memory, an unremarkable Sunday in my life. I was eagerly waiting for my dad to get home with ‘payasam’ (South Indian dessert) which he had promised to get me that day. The hot summer afternoons in Thrissur had an inexpressible beauty of ordinariness.
I often wonder how our brain sorts days and events as memorable and forgettable. I don’t know why I remember that day, there were too many days like that. But this day distinctly came to my mind today. I wish to hold onto such memories of ordinary days. I yearn to bottle such unremarkable days that go unnoticed.
Today, at least for a moment, I felt as if there is nothing I want as much as to go back in time and live through that day again.
